Joan is a Chartered Physiotherapist with specialist expertise in Acupuncture, and has worked in the NHS and in private healthcare for more than 20 years.
She is a highly skilled and experienced clinician in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Acupuncture.
A high standard of care in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal patients is maintained, including neck and back problems, sports injuries, and post-op management of surgical joint procedures including rehab of total hip and total knee replacement patients.
Referrals are triaged and individual patient cases are discussed with orthopaedic and neurosurgical consultants as necessary. She will triage patients with a view to referring onwards for ultrasound scan, x-ray, etc. as required. She keeps up-to-date with new advances in treatment methods for patients, via courses, journals, and online research and reports.
Joan trained in Cosmetic Acupuncture at the Acumedic Foundation in London, led by the prestigious Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology, and graduated in October 2008.
She is one of a small number of clinicians in Europe to hold the University’s Diploma in Cosmetic Acupuncture & Chinese Cosmetology and to be registered as a specialist practitioner with the Chinese Medical Institute & Register in London (CMIR), and abides by the code of ethics and practice set up by CMIR.
Joan has been at the forefront of this incredible phenomenon since 2008, achieving consultant status, and being one of only 13 people with this elite qualification in Europe. She is uniquely acclaimed for both her physiotherapy and acupuncture expertise, and frequently referred to by the leading medical consultants in the North West of England.
She is also a Member of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and an Advanced Member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).
